>>A message from President David Fincher ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE AND NEW LEADERS AT GACS
One of my areas of focus in recent weeks/months has been to look at the organizational structure of GACS. It’s deserved that time for many reasons. So I'm pleased to share an organizational change within Greater Atlanta Christian that's designed to make the school even stronger next year and beyond.
First, three new Vice Presidents will be on the scene, but in a sense, they are not new at all. I have asked Senior High Principal Bill Burton to take on the new role of Administrative Vice President. Bill's strengths and love of GAC are widely known, and he will be working with me on a number of school initiatives that will help us all greatly.
In addition, two titles will change to more accurately reflect what individuals are already doing: Randall Jackson will be named Vice President for Finance, and Jimmy Chupp Vice President for Development. I’m so pleased to have these three capable Christian men leading.
Scott Harsh has accepted my request that he take on the role of GACS Senior High Principal, just the fourth Senior High Principal since the school began in 1968. First as teacher, then as JH Assistant Principal, then Dean of Students, Scott has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and excitement that's unique. He has wisdom and vision beyond his years, plus a passion for the mission of GACS that is encouraging to me.
Joining in two new roles (in lieu of the old role of Dean of Students) will be Dr. Betty Morris as Dean of Girls and Mr. Troy Bendickson as Dean of Boys. Both will maintain a strong presence in the classroom, serving part-time as teacher and as dean. The gender focus of these two GAC veterans will bring a rich new dimension to GACS Senior High. Both are known for their high standards, love of GAC students, and ability to inspire and lead.
Rhonda Hawkins moves from the role of Elementary Assistant Principal to K-5th Associate Principal. Rhonda’s leadership and positive impact is growing, and this expanded assignment allows her the opportunity to shape more of Greater Atlanta Christian. Also, Mitchell Baker will expand his counseling services to include K-5th.
The strengths that have been there continue—Dr. Misty Overman, Mrs. Norma Miller, Dr. Sandy Spiceland, and Mrs. Carole DeMonbreun. So next year will be a time of both continuity and change.
I hope you share my excitement for the progress ahead for GACS. Please be praying for these new leaders and their growth ahead. God has a plan for Greater Atlanta Christian. Thanks for your partnership in His plan.

>Jeff Foxworthy brings show to arena By JENNIFER BRETT The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
No one laughs at jokes poking fun at Northerners. Try saying something like, "You might be a Yankee if your great-great-granddaddy helped burn Atlanta to the ground" at the next cocktail party. You'll probably get silence.
But we Southerners are easy targets. We put couches and washing machines on the porch and cars up on blocks in the yard. We brew moonshine in the tub and bring pistols to family reunions. We want national holidays to commemorate Elvis and Dale Earnhardt.
All right, maybe not. But comical Southern caricatures have provided great material for Jeff Foxworthy, who turned his "You Might Be a Redneck" routine into a multifaceted brand. When he picks on his native land, it's with love — like gossiping about a wayward family member and then adding those three sugarcoated words: "Bless her heart." The author of a slew of humorous books, his "Blue Collar Comedy Tour" has been spun into "Blue Collar TV," a show on the WB network.
Now the funny Southerner is coming to Gwinnett. Foxworthy will appear at 8 p.m. July 15 at the Gwinnett Arena. Tickets are $39.75 and are available at www.ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster by phone at 404-249-6400 or at the Gwinnett Center box office.
