GAC student wins Gold Key award

Morgan
Johnson, a sophomore, has won the Gold Key Award from the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, Inc. Her short story, “Wonderings,” is one of the winning selections from approximately 5,000 su
bmissions to the Region-at-Large program of The Scholastic Writing Awards of 2006 that provides the preliminary round. Morgan’s original short story continues to the national level of competition in
New York City. To gain a perspective of this honor, one should note some famous authors who also achieved this award: Truman Capote, Bernard Malamud, Joyce Carol Oates, Sylvia Plath, and Ro
bert Redford. The list of famous past judges includes Ro
bert Frost, William Saroyan, Frank McCourt, and Judy Blume. Congratulate Morgan
Johnson for her talent and achievement in writing.
